Hi, I'm Andy and I have first hand experience of multiple impairments I'm very interested in disability issues. This web site will be highlighting various disability issues that I am hoping you will find of interest. So please fill welcome to explore this site about disability issues.
Hidden disabilities, hidden impairments and invisible disabilities. These categories are generally used to describe disabled people who don't have a medical condition that is visually noticeable like a physical impairment. I certainly find this disability issue very interesting. You can learn more from the web site "Hi2u for people with hidden impairments". It is certainly worth reading the article "hidden impairments" on the Hi2u site.
From a very young age I like many others wanted to build my own robot. Now robots are reality however this is mainly for industry. I don't think it will be a very long time until we have domestic robots doing household chores. Obviously this would be extremely valuable for many disabled people. I can also imagine that there could be a negative side to this. Perhaps pushing some disabled people into isolation. This is certainly something I'm keen to investigate further. The Discovery school.com has an interesting web page for students learning about robots and disability issues.
As the disability community have achieved so much progress with equality enabling independent living. More and more disabled people are starting their own families. This is very exciting for disabled people however there are still many struggles for disabled parents. As I am a disabled parent I can understand many of the struggles with society to allow this without discrimination. If you would like to learn more about disabled parents then visit the, "Disabled Parents Network" web site. I have written an article on the Hi2u site, centred around some difficulties I've experienced as a disabled parent. Is "Discrimination" Preventing medical Treatment (for children who have disabled parents)???
